Baptism? Easter? Summit? Volunteers?

First, if you or anyone you know needs to be biblically baptized,we will be having a baptism service as part of our Easter Celebration on April17. I would love to visit with you on what it means to be biblically baptized. We believe that baptism is by immersion (completely submerged underwater). Baptism is a symbol (it does not save you). And Baptism is for believers (takes place after a salvation experience). If you have any questions, please contact me, and let me know.

Second, there are a couple of events coming up that I want to encourage you to bring guests to. On April 10, the Worship Choir and Orchestra will be presenting an Easter musical during both the 8:30 and 11:00 services. We will be celebrating our Easter service on April 17. Let us come together ready to celebrate the resurrectionof Jesus Christ.

Third, I want to thank everyone who participated in the first summit. It was a great time looking to our past and understanding how it has affected us as a church and as individuals. Our prayer time at the end was powerful. I believe this will be agreat spiritual journey that grounds us in the past and propels us to the future.  For those who were unable to attend, you will see evidence of the summit on the walls around the worship center on Sunday. You will see a timeline with significant positive and negative events that have happened in our church since its beginning in the late 50’s.

We will be continuing where we left off on March 27 at 4:00. If you were not part of the first summit, we would love to have you join us. We will be looking at our journey wall and understanding what our actual values are and what that means for us. We value your opinion, and your participation helps us as we try to understand who we are and who God wants us to be.

Our second summit will be on April 3. We will keep the same schedule we used for summit 1. We will have a mission fellowship meal starting at 11:30 and at the end of the 11:00 service. We will start the summit at 1:00 and expect it to be finished by 4:00. This summitis designed to help us dream of our future which will help us set goals for the next five years. We are not accidently going to be obedient to God. We mustunderstand what he is calling us to do and plan accordingly.

In between these summits we have established a RefocusingTeam to help us put into words the big ideas we are discovering during our summits. Nominations were received from those attending the Mission Focus 2022 meeting on Sunday nights and the staff helped take the nominations and make sure we had a well-rounded group representing our church. Those joining the church staff on the Refocusing Team are Michael Hickman, Valerie Lewis, Lewis Williams, Jason Kirby, Kathy Loudat, and Steph Acton. When you see them, thank them for their service. Their work is very important and not easy.

Last, we have a large need for more people to help with security. If we had 20 more volunteers this week it would not be too many. We want to help everyone feel secure when they walk on campus, and we want to be ready if there is ever a problem. Please email Terry Berry at if you would like to volunteer or have any questions.

Many churches are experiencing a volunteer shortage and weare no exception. We do not have a single ministry that is fully staffed. We need you! Please contact Kevin if we can count on you to help with the ministries of our church. If you would like to help with Vacation Bible School this summer, July 11-15, please let Sydney know.
