I mentioned a few weeks ago that one of the big takeaways from the lunch I had with our young adults (18-35) was their desire to have a common coffee area which would promote fellowship and strengthen community among the generations as well as a welcoming place for guests. After a few weeks of research and ordering supplies we are ready to launch this new ministry. This Sunday you will find a self-serve coffee bar in the atrium (main entrance). Virginia Dickey has agreed to manage the coffee bar. Be sure and thank her when you see her for her service.
At the coffee bar you will find many great options. The coffee is made with freshly ground beans. In the next week or two we will be grinding and brewing coffee from a local coffee shop. You will find sweeteners, creamers, and flavored syrups for your enjoyment. Coming soon you will be able to have hot flavored teas as well.
There are a few things that you can assist us with to help this new ministry be a success. First, please help keep the bar neat and clean. It will be manned with servants of our church, not paid employees. Second, there will be a donation box at the bar. Your financial gifts will help sustain this ministry with high quality coffee and the benefit of great flavors. Third, the coffee bar is for those 7th grade and up. Though we will not stop parents from making a drink for their children, coffee will not be allowed in the children’s classrooms. Fourth, please use lids. Lids will help lessen the impact of coffee cups being knocked over on our carpet. And last, please let us know if you have any suggestions to make the experience better.
It is truly our goal for this to strengthen the “united community of believers” we strive to be as we serve on mission. Without community we are just serving coffee. With community we are a family getting to know each other deeper, working together for the glory of God. See you Sunday!
