Love Like Jesus

By showing the love of Jesus we can make a big impact in ourcommunity. Jesus said, “34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also areto love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciplesif you have love for one another.” (John 13:35).  Our partnership with Governor Bent Elementary School (GBES) is one of the ways we show Jesus’ love to our community. We had the great privilege last week to serve the teachers and staff of GBES. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event happen. From the ladies who set the tables with their personal china, to those who cooked, and to those who gave gift cards for us to hand out as gifts, your sacrificial love for those working in our community school was felt and appreciated.

Sunday night we had a great time at the Back-to-School Fiesta. We had a great turnout and many guests who joined us. It was anotheropportunity to show Christ’s love to our children and those in our community. This Sunday we start ourSunday evening activities for our children including children’s choir and mission education. The success of these ministries is determined by the sacrificial love of our volunteers. If the next generation of leaders at Del Norte is going to have the same foundation as the last, we must pour into our children. Let us know if you would liketo help.

We also must remember that showing love only has temporalvalue unless we point them to Jesus. We show our love in the name of Jesus to reflect Jesus to those who need to know him. The Rt. 66, Franklin Graham, God Loves You Tour is a great opportunity to show your friends and family that you care for their eternity as much as you care about their physical life. The event takes place outside at Expo New Mexico. Bring your lawn chair and guests to a great concert featuring Newboys, Marcos Witt and Dennis Agajanian followed by a message by Franklin Graham.

We must also show love to the church as we serve one another. Covid has hurt us the most in the number of volunteers to serve in our various ministries. We need greeters to serve on the Welcoming Team as we serve members and guests who come to worship on Sunday morning. We need people to serve our babies, preschoolers, and children so they can get age-appropriate teaching while their parents’ worshipand study God’s Word. We need people helping those within our church who have needs at home as well as those within our community who are hurting. We need every member serving if we are to fulfill the calling of God upon us.

Let us know if we can help get you connected with anopportunity to love like Jesus.
