I am so glad to be back in the office and I am ready to sprint to our Fall ministries. Over the last two months I have slept in 6 different time zones. My mind has no idea what time it is. As I look back over the last few weeks, I am amazed at all God has done. From Malawi, Panama, and California God used the faithfulness of Del Norte Baptist Church to impact the nations. As much as I missed you and my family, I know God used the sacrifices of us all to bring glory to His name.
Please be praying for the Church Restructuring Team who begins the work of helping us organize to more efficiently and effectively accomplish our vision. I have assigned the team two books which we will use in shaping some of our discussions. If you are interested in reading these books, they can be found at www.christianbooks.com.They are Doing Church as a Team by Wayne Cordeiro and Canoeing the Mountains by Todd Bolsinger.
When in Panama we got to experience the importance of prayer walking. It is a great way to pray for a community and allow God to open our hearts to the needs around us. Starting August 7, we are going to prayer walk around the church once a month. We will have two groups going out at 7:45 and 9:15. Choose the one that fits your Sunday morning schedule the best and meet in the atrium (East main entrance). I believe God will bless us as we learn to make this a new discipline of our church.
One of my favorite traditions of any church I have ever been a part of is the Del Norte Labor Day Weekend Campout at Hummingbird Camp. The campout is September 2-4. For those not going the “camp-in” takes place at the church on Sunday morning. I want to encourage you to take part in the campout this year. It is a phenomenal time of fellowship. There is a lot of time around a campfire and some beautiful hikes. My kids haven’t stopped talking about last year’s camp. Join me and my family. You will be glad you did. You can bring an RV, tent, or rent a cabin. More information will be coming soon. Put it on your calendar. Let me know if you have any questions.
I am excited about what God continues to do through us. Thank you for letting me be your pastor.
